Create a Positive Work from Home Culture

Over the last few years, there has been an increase in the amount of businesses going remote, taking the cost out of having an office premises and having their team work from home. But that social office environment can be missed. Is there a way to bring that positive office culture back into remote working?

When there is a will, there is a way! Below is what we have identified as key players in how you can ensure the positive office work culture is still present while your team are working remotely.

Boost Staff Morale

One of the key parts of positive office culture is the boost in morale you get from your colleagues. Don’t let positive office culture slide when working remotely. Recognise achievements, say thank you, listen to feedback and lead by example. Keeping on top of these four points will lead to an increase in staff morale and a positive remote working culture within your team.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Just because you are working remotely does not mean team work should suffer. Chat to colleagues, meet virtually “face-to-face” for a coffee break, collaborate together on projects and stay connected to the people that matter. Holding onto the social aspect of office working is key for overall health while working from home.

Combat Isolation

When working from home some can find it an isolating experience, especially if they also live on their own. Face to face contact can be missed and so its important to emphasis that ten fold when working remotely. Hold daily video meetings at both the start and the end of the day. Schedule in a virtual coffee break with colleagues and friends. Its amazing how the effect of just speaking to someone face to face, even virtually, can affect your mood and ultimately your mental well-being. As humans we are social beings and its good to embrace that when working remotely.

Use Tools to Make the Impossible, Possible

We talk about it a lot, but Microsoft Teams is the perfect tool for communication, collaboration and co-ordination. Work together on documents, communicate through chat or video call. Utilising Microsoft SharePoint is also a great way to stay up to date with everything that is going on in the business. Though these tools are all predominately Microsoft, there are so many other tools out there that can help keep your colleagues connected and focused on the tasks at hand.

At Appetite for Business we are currently harnessing all the benefits Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams has to offer. As a business who works predominately through Microsoft 365, we have the training and capabilities to work from home through Teams as well as continue our scheduled training sessions through online webinars. If this is something you want to put in place for your business, do not hesitate to get in touch.

We believe that all businesses should enjoy using their communication, collaboration and co-ordination management system. Harness the full capabilities of your workforce, no matter where you are working from.
